Ammonium excretion, auxin production and effects of maize inoculation with ethylenediamine-resistant mutants of Pseudomonas sp. Bragantia
Ramos,Luan da Luz; Rodrigues,Elisete Pains; Silva,Mayara Barbosa; Oliveira,Jessica Ellen; Zuluaga,Mónica Yorlady Alzate; Milani,Karina Maria Lima; Oliveira,André Luiz Martinez de.
ABSTRACT Plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) comprise part of plant microbiome of biotechnological interest due to their potential to decrease the use of agrochemicals in agriculture. Among the commonly found PGPB species, the Pseudomonas genus is known for high competitiveness and efficiency in expressing growth-promotion traits. To increase the contribution of diazotrophic Pseudomonas sp. to the plant nitrogen nutrition, the strain AZM-01 was chemically mutagenized with methyl methanesulfonate (MMS), following the selection for resistance to ethylenediamine (EDA). From the 13 EDA-resistant mutant strains selected, four showed increased the ammonium excretion, with the highest value reaching up to 284% increase as compared to the wild strain, and six...

Santiago, Christine D.; Yagi, Shogo; Ijima, Motoaki; Nashimoto, Tomoya; Sawada, Maki; Ikeda, Seishi; Asano, Kenji; Orikasa, Yoshitake; Ohwada, Takuji.
The compatibility of strains is crucial for formulating bioinoculants that promote plant growth. We herein assessed the compatibility of four potential bioinoculants isolated from potato roots and tubers (Sphingomonas sp. T168, Streptomyces sp. R170, Streptomyces sp. R181, and Methylibium sp. R182) that were co-inoculated in order to improve plant growth. We screened these strains using biochemical tests, and the results obtained showed that R170 had the highest potential as a bioinoculant, as indicated by its significant ability to produce plant growth-promoting substances, its higher tolerance against NaCl (2%) and AlCl3 (0.01%), and growth in a wider range of pH values (5.0-10.0) than the other three strains. Therefore, the compatibility of R170 with...

Passos,João Frederico M. dos; Costa,Pedro B. da; Costa,Murilo D.; Zaffari,Gilmar R.; Nava,Gilberto; Boneti,José Itamar; Oliveira,Andréia Mara R. de; Passaglia,Luciane M.P..
This study evaluated the diversity of cultivable plant growth-promoting (PGP) bacteria associated with apple trees cultivated under different crop management systems and their antagonistic ability against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Samples of roots and rhizospheric soil from apple trees cultivated in organic and conventional orchards in southern Brazil were collected, together with soil samples from an area never used for agriculture (native field). Bacteria were identified at the genus level by PCR-RFLP and partial sequencing of the 16S rRNA, and were evaluated for some PGP abilities. The most abundant bacterial genera identified were Enterobacter (27.7%), Pseudomonas (18.7%), Burkholderia (13.7%), and Rahnella (12.3%). Sixty-nine isolates presented...

Reyes Molina, Samanta Adriana.

Growth promotion of pineapple 'vitória' by humic acids and burkholderia spp. during acclimatization Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Baldotto,Lílian Estrela Borges; Baldotto,Marihus Altoé; Canellas,Luciano Pasqualoto; Bressan-Smith,Ricardo; Olivares,Fábio Lopes.
In vitro propagation of pineapple produces uniform and disease-free plantlets, but requires a long period of acclimatization before transplanting to the field. Quicker adaptation to the ex vitro environment and growth acceleration of pineapple plantlets are prerequisites for the production of a greater amount of vigorous, well-rooted planting material. The combination of humic acids and endophytic bacteria could be a useful technological approach to reduce the critical period of acclimatization. The aim of this study was to evaluate the initial performance of tissue-cultured pineapple variety Vitória in response to application of humic acids isolated from vermicompost and plant growth-promoting bacteria (Burkholderia spp.) during greenhouse...
